R.A. 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997)
Regarding abuse R. A. 8533 goes the extra mile to defend a human being rather than of lost honor and excites the necessity of reiteration and confirmation of consent, precisely this is the core of the understanding provided in this legal document. The acknowledgment of the issue of rape is to clarify that when a man forces a woman to enjoy deeply relishing activities against her will. Without her consent, whether through beatings, it is effectively rape. The law also encompasses spousal rape, punishing a husband who forces his wife without her permission. It also aids the incapacitated users when they are not able to consent due to either desiring trauma, being drunk, or experiencing an unfortified mental state.
And yes, such laws need to exist, as they prevent the oppressor and protect the oppressed. Justice can finally be sought, and rights are validated. It empowers liberty for those who suffer by enabling them with statuary help and balanced inquiry. As R. A. 8533 does make provision for the sadness so many carry around them, there is at least one virtue left—accountability. It is a step forward in looking after human rights and was devised intact to combat sexual offenders.
R.A. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act)
Also referred to as the ‘Bawal Bastos’ law, this law aims to address the issue of sexual harassment in both real and virtual environments. It includes practices like catching street harassment, loitering, creating obscene sign language, making unsolicited comments, and online harassment such as posting illicit content and messaging. The aim of this law is to make it easy for women and others to avoid street, school, office, and Internet forms of harassment or abuse.
Sexual harassment has many forms and its prevalence might violate the law of women’s and individual’s right to privacy and honor. Every single person, especially every woman, should feel comfortable and free from any form of disrespect towards him/her, in the streets or on the internet, and this will be achieved, as the law reflects. It encourages social standing against harassment of any form thereby promoting the need for gender equality.
